UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

MEETINGS

The regular monthly meetings of the municipal council are held on the first Monday of every month, except in January when the meeting is held on the second Monday. All meetings begin at 7 p.m. and are open to the public.

All meetings take place in the basement of the F.P. Adams Hall, which is situated at 35 Kempt Road.

BROADLANDS CEMETERY LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE FENCE

The Broadlands and Kempt Road United Church Cemetery has launched a fundraising drive to replace its ageing fence and repair damaged stones. The cemetery has stones that date back to the 19th century and bear witness to the areas' first Scottish settlers. It continues to receive burials from many families in the area.

A new fence has become necessary as the old wood post and wire fence is degraded. A generous donation of adjacent land from Mr. Alan Alexander has allowed the cemetery to increase in size.

The new galvanized steel fence will be aesthetic and permanent. In order to pay for it, the cemetery committee is inviting people to sponsor each section of fence by paying 400$ to have a message of remembrance printed on a granite plaque attached to each section of fence. Donations in any amount are accepted and all are tax deductible.

"We hope families will use this opportunity to remember loved ones and contribute to the beautification of the Broadlands and Kempt Road cemetery, " said Doug Firlotte, cemetery committee president.
